Retail Operations Manager- ROM

The Retail Operations Manager will act as an integral support to the Head of Retail, the Head office buying team and the stores by supporting all operational processes and procedures.

 

He/she will be assisting in the day-to-day co-ordination of all duties needed to support the Head of Retail.

 

MANAGEMENT OF STORES

 

The ROM will be responsible for overseeing the performance of the retail outlets

This will be achieved through

 

      • written and verbal communication
      • store visits
      • weekly/monthly meetings.

 

The main purpose of the role is to maximize sales within each branch by ensuring that

 

      • all staff are well trained and motivated
      • all merchandising guidelines are being followed
      • all standard procedures are being followed

 

 

SALES TARGETS

The ROM will be responsible for agreeing targets at the beginning of each quarter, month and week and then ensuring all steps are taken within each store to achieve those targets

She/he will be tasked in particular with overseeing sales training for all retail staff.

 

MARKETING

The ROM will work in conjunction with the HoR with regard to the following

      • overseeing store layouts,
      • planning, designing and implementing window designs,
      • initiating and reporting on occasional marketing initiatives,
      • planning and overseeing promotional periods, including January SALE, Summer SALE and BVGs
      • design and production of in-store POS,
      • suggesting ideas for store emails

 

ANALYSIS OF SALES DATA

In order to maximize retail sales the ROM will be actively involved, together with the Directors and the HoR, in analysing sales data and implementing changes as required, This will include

 

      • analysis of seasonal card sales and organising returns and credits
      • analysis of calendar & diary sales and organising returns and credits,
      • the production of combined gift sales figures for the two large combination product areas during the main seasonal occasion, - Christmas and BVGs,
      • the monitoring of store theft through regular weekly stocktakes and implementing measures to prevent stock losses

 

RECRUITMENT AND ONGOING TRAINING

Oversight of recruitment needs will be done in conjunction with the Head of HR

Assist with Inductions of new staff as and when necessary – in conjunction with the Store Managers

Organise and prepare staff assessments as and when necessary

 

 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

 

      • Previous proven experience of working in a target orientated retail business
      • People Management experience
      • Office administrative skills – excel, word etc
      • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Good communicator and strong listening skills
      • Excellent time management
      • Highly organised with the ability to work to deadlines
      • Willing to work out of set hours and at weekends.
      • Clean diving licence required

 

It is envisaged that the ROM will be based at Head Office in Chesham for 2 to 3 days a week but will then travel to the stores on the other days. As we operate 7 days a week some weekend working will be required in order to meet and oversee all the team members.
