Stock Controller
Position: Stock Controller
Hours: Full Time
Location: Chesham (HP5)
Salary: £27K - £29K
Temptation Gifts Ltd is a family owned business which operates seven High Street stores and three web sites. It has operated online since 2000 and they are looking for an experienced Stock Controller to work exclusively within their online sales department.
This is a permanent, full-time job based on the outskirts of Chesham, - HP5. In general the hours will be between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday but limited weekend working will be required through the year, as well as the possibility of some late shifts in the pre-Xmas period. (11:30-8:30pm)
Salary - £27K - £29K
Holidays – 28 days each year but none may be taken between 1st October and 31st December.

The Stock Co-ordinator will report directly to the Head of Distribution and must liaise closely with the other department co-ordinators –in fulfilment and customer service.
In addition, the role will require good communication with senior personnel within the company in relation to the introduction of new stock and professional communication with external suppliers regarding any issues with deliveries.
Supervisory Responsibilities
You will have two or three permanent members of your team, reporting directly to you on a daily basis, but there is flexibility for staff to move between Fulfilment (picking and packaging orders) and Stock, so additional resources are available when workload demands. During the pre-Christmas period, (Oct – Dec) you will run a larger team which will include several temporary members of staff. Supervisory responsibility includes a commitment to the wellbeing and effectiveness of other people employed by the company, and as such requires maturity, empathy, and good communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing incoming deliveries from suppliers, by checking off against the stock control system and against supplier delivery notes
- Processing incoming internal deliveries (from retail warehouse on same site)
- Entering incoming stock onto the websites’ online stock control system.
- Transferring the delivered stock onto warehouse shelves and placing new products logically and methodically to enable the Fulfilment staff to pick the products easily, including the labelling of boxes and/or shelves where appropriate.
- Undertaking regular manual “stocktakes” to check online stock availability figures
- Liaising with the Marketing team to ensure that they are immediately aware of new stock
- Ensuring that any particular stock lines that are selling through quickly are brought to the attention of the Head of Distribution
- Maintaining a clean and well-organised stock and picking area within the web warehouse
- Overseeing “returns” and credit requests for damaged / imperfect stock / short deliveries with suppliers for all stock from the companies which deliver direct to the web’s warehouse
- Learning all aspects of “picking” and “packing” in order to be able to support the work of the fulfilment team as required.
- Ensuring all Health and Safety procedures are followed by your team.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, as part of the team you are required to contribute your fair share of the work needed to maintain a safe, clean and pleasant working environment for you and your colleagues.
Skills and Experience Required
To be considered for this vacancy applicants must have;
- two years’ experience in a similar fast paced warehouse environment
- supervisory experience
- good numeracy skills
- excellent communication – both written and verbal
- Computer skills and competent with all aspects of Microsoft Excel, Office etc.
