Company History
Temptation was started in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, in 1983, by married couple Mike and Sheena Adams. They had a simple retailing philosophy. Shopping should be fun!

The Early Days
Mike and Sheena set about creating a store that would sell unusual gifts, at a price people could afford, and to make sure that customers felt comfortable while shopping. They felt, (and still feel), that too many shops take their customers for granted, so they tried to create stores where customers feel welcome, are listened to rather than sold to, and where the goods on offer are priced within the reach of all budgets.

Expansion of the Company
Over the next ten years the company opened stores in Amersham, Beaconsfield, and St. Albans, and moved to a more central location in Berkhamsted. Turnover grew rapidly, helped by the expansion of the Amersham and Beaconsfield stores, and the building of a central warehouse and head office in Amersham. The company became a limited company in 1999, but ownership remains entirely in the hands of Mike and Sheena Adams. Annual turnover now exceeds two and a half million: still small by the standards of the big High Street Multiples, but big enough to make us one of the most successful independent gift retailers in the United Kingdom. And big enough for you to have complete confidence in our integrity and professionalism.

Quite simply, Temptation sees itself in partnership with its customers. We try to treat our customers the way we ourselves want to be treated when we go shopping. We want you to spend what you can afford, not what would maximise our profits. We want you to buy the right gift, not the most expensive gift, and above all we want you to feel confident that if you have a problem with what you have bought, we will do everything we can to solve that problem. Buying gifts from our website should not be any different from coming into one of our stores. Last year we had over a quarter of a million satisfied customers buy gifts and cards in our stores. Unlike many companies selling goods over the web, we have the experience of many years of retailing behind us, and the goods we offer are all in stock in our warehouse. We have tried to create a website that is easy to use and fun to visit. The number of gifts is growing and changing all the time, so if you can't find what you want on this visit, do call again.

Making A Purchase

How to Shop
At the top of every page you will find all the categories from Dunoon Mugs through Terraumundi Money Pots to Collectable Bears. Simply click on whichever one you would like to look in first. You can also make an instant selection from the BestSellers and New Products featured on every page.

Using the Shopping Cart
When you have decided which product or products you would like to buy, then click, "Buy". This item will then automatically be included in your cart. Once you have placed an item in your cart you will be redirected to the site and you can shop for more. At any time you can check the contents of your shopping cart by clicking the "View Cart" button on the right hand side of every page.

How do I delete an item?
If you place an item into your cart which you later decide you no longer wish to buy then you can remove it.

How do I change the quantity I wish to order?
If you would like to buy more than one of any item then all you need to do is specify the quantity you require. To do this click in the box headed quantity and then change the figure in this box (which will be set at a default of 1) to the number you require. You can make this change at the time of purchase or in the Cart, but if you make this change on the Shopping Cart page you will need to press 'Update' to apply your changes.

Making Your Purchase
When you have finished browsing and are ready to purchase your goods, go to the checkout by clicking the Checkout button. At the checkout you need to complete a form with your name, e-mail address, home address and telephone number. This information is required so that we are able to send you your receipt and goods, or contact you if there are any problems with your order.

There will also be a section entitled delivery address which you can fill in if you would like the delivery to be sent to a different address than your own home address.

At this stage you will be transferred to a secure payment page provided by our industry-leading payment service provider, Protx. There you will need to enter your credit card details - which will include your card number, expiry date and the name of the card holder. You need not have any concerns over the security of these details as all the credit cards will be encrypted on the site.

For more information please have a look at our Credit Card Security Section. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Delta and Solo. We will accept both credit cards and debit cards and all orders will be processed in the same way.

Please note that all prices will be billed in pounds sterling, notwithsdtanding any currency display changes.

Sending a gift to a friend
At temptationgifts.com we want to offer the best service possible, therefore we have included with our site the chance for you to purchase a gift for someone and have it sent direct to their door. If you wish to use this service then all you need to do is shop in the same way as normal, select your items and go to the check out. You will then fill in the separate delivery address to which you want your goods sent. On the paymnent pages you will complete the form with your name address and credit card details etc.

Gift Wrapping Service
We also offer a gift wrapping service. If you wish to send the items you have selected as a gift then we can wrap them for you. The items will be beautifully wrapped and ribboned for a charge of £2.95 per gift. Please just tick the box to show you would like this service.

Processing your order
To process the order please ensure you have entered all the necessary details such as delivery address and your valid credit card details and then click "submit order". Once you have submitted the order a page will appear which confirms your order details, personal details and the amount which will be debited from your credit card. Having received a valid order, TemptationGifts.com will then despatch your goods from our warehouse within 24 hours.

Currency Converter

Currency Rates
The international currency rates are automatically updated every day from a feed sourced from international markets and Reuters. The rates are automatically updated on this site and will change from day to day with market fluctuations. If an updated international rate is not available on any given day for any reason the previous available rate will be displayed.

How You Will Be Charged
TemptationGifts is wholly owned and run by Temptation Gifts Ltd., a UK based business which carries out all its transactions in GBP (£ sterling). Your credit or debit card statement will show the charge in £s. The amounts displayed when using the currency converter are of necessity close approximations and should not be misconstrued for a contractual agreement over the exact amount in the displayed currency. Converted prices do not take into account any overseas transacton fees your bank or credit card company may levy on such a purchase.

Delivery Schedule

U.K. Standard Delivery - updated February 2nd 2009
Having received a valid order, TemptationGifts.com will aim to dispatch your goods the same working day, or the following working day. Orders received over the weekend (after midday on Friday) will be dispatched on a Monday.

Standard Delivery orders to UK mainland addresses are sent by either Royal Mail or using an overnight courier company. You should expect your order to arrive at the designated delivery address within 1 - 3 working day of despatch, but please allow up to 5 working days for delivery. Deliveries to Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands & Islands and the Channel Islands must be shipped via Royal Mail. See HERE for a full list of postcodes exempt from using our courier service. Please allow upto 5 working days for delivery.

What happens if you are out when your order is delivered?
You have the option to send your order to whatever address you choose. We cannot arrange a specific time for delivery as this is out of our hands. For your convenience, if you select Standard Delivery you will NOT be required to sign for the parcel. If there is somewhere safe for the parcel to be left, the driver will leave it for you. If there is no appropriate and/or discreet location, the courier driver will leave a card. You can then contact them to rearrange the delivery or to go to their nearest depot and collect the parcel yourself.

U.K Next Day Delivery
Orders sent via our Next Day Delivery service will always be dispatched on the date of order and will arrive the next working day by courier. This applies to all orders placed by 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday.

Any orders for Next Day Delivery placed after 4pm on a Thursday and upto 4pm on a Friday will be despatch on Friday and delivered on Monday.

Any orders for Next Day Delivery placed after 4pm on a Friday or on Saturday or Sunday will be dispatched on Monday and delivered on Tuesday. These parcels will require a signature on delivery.

Please note that this service is ONLY available to mainland UK addresses. For exempted postcodes see HERE. If you have ordered Next Day delivery but live in these locations, we will dispatch via Royal Mail and refund you the £1.50 difference in postage charge. Please allow upto 5 working days for delivery.

What happens if you are out when your order is delivered?
You have the option to send your order to whatever address you choose. We cannot arrange a specific time for delivery as this is out of our hands. If you select Next Day delivery a signature is required. Should delivery be attempted when you are out the courier company will leave a card. You can then contact them to rearrange the delivery or to go to their nearest depot and collect the parcel yourself.

Overseas Delivery
Having received a valid order, TemptationGifts.com will aim to dispatch your goods the same working day, or the following working day. Orders received over the weekend (after midday on Friday) will be dispatched on a Monday. All of these orders will be shipped with Royal Mail and their intrnational partners, and you should receive them within approximately 2 weeks of placing your order. Again, we cannot guarantee the efficiency of all national and international postal services, but in general they prove very reliable.

Back Orders

We try to stay in stock of all our products at all times, but sometimes we get caught out. If your item is not in stock at the time you place your order we will either refund immediately or send it on within 10 working days.

From the Checkout page of our site you will be automatically redirected to secure pages provided by Sage Pay, who are our industry-leading Payment Service Provider. They use SSL technology, (which is an industry standard secure sockets layer and diplays the "Gold Padlock" in your browser window). This technology allows for the encryption of confidential information such as your credit card details.

Any information that you enter into the computer which is then passed to their website is secure, which means that in the unlikely event of the information being intercepted by someone else, it cannot be read.

However, sometimes things can go wrong. The goods may not be what you ordered, they may have been damaged in transit, or you may just not like what you see when it arrives. We want you to feel totally confident that if, for any reason at all, you are not completely happy with your purchase, you can return it to us at our expense, and we will refund your original payment in full.

Unhappy with your purchase?
Let us know you wish to return the goods. (within 24 hours of receiving your goods if possible). We will refund you the cost of posting the goods back, to make sure you're not out of pocket for this expense. Return the goods to us (free of charge) in their original packaging. If you have lost or destroyed the packaging, please try to use something equivalent so that the goods are not damaged or further damaged on their way back to us. Please also enclose your original receipt or a copy if you prefer, so we can identify you easily.
We will refund your original credit card payment in full, in adition to any postage expenses we have covered for you, once we have received the goods.

What if there's a problem later on?
We are proud of the quality of the products we stcok and sell and would expect you to be able to enjoy them long into the future. However it is possible that you may have reason to be dissatisfied with your purchase at a later date. For example you may have bought something which stops working even though it has been subject to only normal usage. Under these circumstances, contact us by email, (sales@temptationgifts.com) and a member of our sales team will contact you by email or by telephone to try to solve the problem. Sometimes these things can be sorted out with a little advice from one of our trained personnel, but if it involves returning the goods to us for replacement, then we will apply the same procedure as above.

* Statutory Rights: The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulation 2000 states that all customers have the right to cancel their contract within seven working days, from the day after the delivery date of the goods.

We collect information about you for 2 reasons: firstly, to process your order and second, to provide you with the best possible service.We will not e-mail you in the future if you do not want us to do so. We will not pass your e-mail address to other traders under any circumstances.

What may be recorded
The type of information we will collect about you includes:
Your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and credit/debit card details (which are inaccessible even to us from moment of purchase). We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. The information we hold will be accurate and up to date.

You can check the information that we hold about you by e-mailing us. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct them promptly. It is as important to us as it is to you that you be completely happy with your purchase.
